Five for 2015

Yeah, 2014 is still going for another week, but I have five tracks that have all been released within the past few weeks that have me looking forward to 2015. They are all great songs, but I can’t really include them in my 2014 list even though they’ve been dropped this year. I chalk it up to the fact that, except for D’angelo’s shocking surprise this week, all of the full lengths comes out next year (yeah yeah, the Panda Bear doesn’t come out until 2015 either, but the Mr. Noah EP came out this year, so there).

D’Angelo and the Vanguard, “Really Love” (from Black Messiah, out now)

A very late 2014 surprise release. Jazz/R and B/Sexy/Lush.

Modest Mouse, “Lampshades On Fire” (From Strangers To Ourselves, out 3/3/15)

Their first release since 2007’s We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank.

Belle and Sebastian, “The Party Line” (from Girls In Peacetime Want To Dance, out 1/20/15)

Said to be a bit more of a dance record.

Madonna, “Ghosttown” (from Rebel Heart, out 3/10/15)

An ‘early Christmas present’ to kill the demo leaks. Vast improvement over MDNA.

Sleater-Kinney, “Surface Envy” (from No Cities To Love, out 1/20/15)

No Cities To Love
The reunion of the year. Sold out shows globally. Please, please add a second Chicago show.
