#TBT: New Order, Regret / Slow Jam

Last week’s Throwback back Thursday was preempted by internet issues. This week I’m closing out New Order July with a double shot throw back from the past two decades.

First, to 1993, the summer, the year of the Breeders and the Smashing Pumpkins. Regret was the first single from Republic, the group’s follow up to Technique. It was a tepid record, but Regret is a smash single. There is a remix I love that is probably my favorite New Order remix. Oh days of college gone by, how I miss thee.

Jump ahead to 2001, and Get Ready was launched.  This was a post Gillian album, and very guitar oriented. This also fell during my friendship with the guy who stopped being my friend (see last post). Slow Jam emerged from the album as a brilliant explosive track, and an easy stand out.
