Destroyer, Times Square

A chill, jazzy moment of wow.

Den Bejar, aka Destroyer, takes us on his trip thru Times Square, the second track from the upcoming Poison Season. The track, which in my most Philistine conveyance is a blend of Billy Joel’s The Stranger-era ballads to NYC with mid 90’s indie pop rock grooves, is fantastically breezy and beautiful. I can see why he kind of hates it: it’s sheer euphoric love of a genre. It’s damn near hummable. It’s what pop should be more of, dammit: Interesting and surreally ubiquitous homages to past music, not technofied blatant mash-up rip offs.

I’m kinda of saying you should really love this. Or else…
