Chicago’s own Tortoise have announced their first album since 2009.
The Catastrophist is planned for a January 2016 release, and is the follow up to Beacons of Ancestorship, and will be out on local label Thrill Jockey.
The first track from the album is the meandering Gesceap, clocking in at just over 7 and a half minutes. It starts pretty chill, builds to a roiling cacophony of organ, percussion and bass and then comes back down again. Just sit back and soak it in.
