Minor Victories, A Hundred Ropes

A supergroup is born and brings forth new sounds.

Minor Victories is Slowdive’s Rachel Goswell, Mogwai’s Stuart Braithwaite, Editors’ Justin Lockey and James Lockey of Hand Held Cine Club. The self titled debut full length is out June 3, and today they debuted A Hundred Ropes, an album track with a cool video directed by Hand Held Cine Club.

What do they sound like? It’s not quite what I’d call an amalgamation of all of their bands styles, but in another way it is: bass and synth heavy, airy vocals, a little euro groove, dark and sinister and with a pop rock hook: cool concept and tight sound, and I’m intrigued for more. The video is also pretty boss, a black and white, single cut of film about 10 seconds long but stretched the length of the song.

So check it: Minor Victories. A Hundred Ropes.
