LVL UP, Pain

Over the last weekend, I was hanging with my friend fuf, and we decided to check out this recommendation from our friend Mac. Unsurprisingly, we were pretty impressed.

While originating out of Purchase, NY, indie lo fi rockers LVL UP actually sound like they came screaming out of the Pacific Northwest circa 1993. Their latest album, Return To Love (out now on Sub Pop), nods its head to the likes of NW idols Built To Spill, Eric’s Trip and Pond (not the current Aussie psych band but the Portland 90’s band), and then throws in a bit of Neutral Milk Hotel and Clap Your Hand Say Yeah for good measure.

Pain is a singles on the full length, but don’t stop there; the entire album is worth a spin or more. It’s instantly one of my favorites from this year.
