Slowdive, Star Roving

The first brand new song from Slowdive in 22 years has arrived, and it’s a dream.

Star Roving is the first new track (of many more anticipated) by the reunited Reading, England group. Though their last album was Pygmalion in 1995, they came back together in 2014 with a successful reunion tour, and plans to record new music.

We finally got to the new music portion.

Star Roving is pure beauty. The tempo is far more upbeat that most of their back catalogue, for starters. Neil and Rachel’s vocals are still lost in the atmosphere. Overall, a lovely melding of their early gauzy guitar work and later spacey electronic noodling, which has always been my wish for anything new from the group.

Wish fulfilled. It’s the first new music of 2017 you should love.
